Who's to Blame?

Prostitution has been around for centuries, in recent years it has evolved into a new kind of evil. “The demand for prostitution in Asia originated largely in the US military establishment,” (Kuo p.44). It is said that during the Korean and Vietnam Wars the US created “Rest and Recreation” facilities. These facilities were created to boost morale of soldiers, instead the sexual exploitation of women, from surrounding rural areas, ran rampant. “Extraordinary numbers of brothels and sex entertainment centers,” were created to meet said needs of US soldiers, (Kuo p.44). With time prostitution has evolved and there is no stopping prostitution. With economic progress of the world, trafficking and prostitution will increase, as there is rise to more money to be spent. Luxurious brothels and clubs being created to meet the needs of this wealthier clientele. Prostitution is illegal in Southeast Asian countries, yet traffickers are finding ways around these laws. For example, massage parlors are popping up all over Southeast Asia as these parlors stand as “fronts for prostitution,” (Kuo p.44). As long as there are women, there will always be men who seek out prostitution.
